12 ways to feel better and have more energy!

I found this article by Marilyn Preston who is a fitness expert, personal trainer and speaker on healthy lifestyle issues. Here goes:

Health care reform actually begins at home. Here are 12 healthy-lifestyle action steps you can take starting today.

1. BE MORE ACTIVE. you will develop more strength and energy, look better, and feel happier and healthier if you enjoy some physical activity every day.

2 DON'T DIET. learn to enjoy preparing and eating real food in sensible amounts to lose weight and keep it off. replace the drama of dieting with the joy of growing some of your own food or buying from local farmers.

3. MAKE HEALTHY EATING ADJUSTMENTS. stop ordering fried foods. substitute dark salad greens, like spinach, for iceberg lettuce. order salad dressings on the side. cancel the cheese.

4. STRETCH MORE. release muscle tension every day to reduce stress and ease pain. just 10 minutes a day can make a difference.

5. DON'T OVERDUE WORKOUTS. too much intensity takes the fun out of being active and raises your risk of injury. moderation is the path to lifelong fitness.

6. DEVELOP INNER BODY AWARENESS. yoga teaches you to use your breath to link body and mind. find your own path to inner awareness, and travel down it daily to clarity, calm, to greater joy.

7. SPEND TIME IN NATURE. outdoor adventures will calm you mentally and revitalize you physically.

8. GET MORE SLEEP. too many people go around sleep deprived, then wonder why they feel tired and irritable.

9. EMBRACE NEW CHALLENGES. set new goals, seek out different experiences, and become the change you want to see in the world

10. KEEP A PERSONAL JOURNAL. keeping track keeps you on track, whether you want to lose 10 pounds or stick to an exercise program.

11. OVERCOME ALL EXCUSES. make time to exercise. get up earlier, write it into your calendar, find mini- breaks in your day to walk or meditate. take control of your day and a more balanced life will follow.

12. STAY POSITIVE. anger, envy and self-pity can sap your strength and lower your resistance to illness. learn to live in the moment.

I thought that all 12 of these points were great reminders of keeping our lives in order and in good health. We all get caught up in the many distractions that life throws at us, but it is still up to us to stay on the tight rope and get to the other side in one piece. We all know how chaos, discord and disarray causes us to lose focus, and this is why I wanted to share this with everyone, because we can apply these small but powerful steps to our day and experience HEALTH & WELLNESS OF MIND BODY & SPIRIT.

Always LOVE, Sunny
